No employee should have to worry that they will be subjected to harassment at their place of work because of their race. Such wrongful harassment can cause great harm to employees. Thus, it is very important for employers to make sure to take proper steps to protect their employees from racial harassment.

Recently, a case involving allegations of workplace racial harassment was settled. The case involved a group of African-American workers who worked for a cement and concrete products company. The workers reportedly worked at facilities the company has in the Montgomery area of Alabama.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleged that these workers were subjected to racial harassment during their time at the company. According to the EEOC, this alleged harassment included things such as inappropriate racial comments and the placement of a noose at a worksite. The EEOC claimed that this alleged conduct created a hostile work environment for the above-mentioned African-American workers.

A racial harassment lawsuit was brought in a federal court by the EEOC against the cement and concrete products company in connection to these allegations. The company and the EEOC recently reached a settlement in regards to this lawsuit. Reportedly, under the terms of the settlement, the company will make a monetary payment.

Racial harassment in the workplace can be extremely harmful and no employee should be subjected to it. Thus, one hopes that all employers take all reasonable steps to ensure that their employees are not subjected to conduct like that which was alleged in the above-mentioned case.
